Appearance: White crystalline or powdery solid.

Water Solubility: Highly soluble in water, with solubility increasing with temperature. At 20°C, solubility is approximately 14 g/100 mL. At 60°C, solubility is approximately 30 g/100 mL.
Other Solvent: Insoluble in organic solvents (e.g., ethanol).
Aqueous Solution pH: The pH of a 1% aqueous solution is approximately 9.5-10.5, making it alkaline.
Decomposition Temperature: Decomposes at high temperatures (around 622°C) into sodium pyrophosphate (Na₄P₂O₇) and sodium metaphosphate (NaPO₃).
Hydrate Stability: The hexahydrate tends to effloresce in dry air, losing its water of crystallization.
